Sloane Square Hotel is a long-established institution in Chelsea. The property has been in operation for over 100 years and has entertained a number of stars like the Beatles in the 60s and Prince William in the 90s.
While the hotel has long been known for its refined British hospitality, their basement hides an unexpected streak of rebellion and an edge to its legacy.
Through a secret passageway you’ll find Sloane Square Hotel’s new hidden gem. Designed to emulate the vibes of the late 70’s and early 80’s, this new speakeasy style bar will enhance the traditional-style hotel’s offering for guests and non guests alike.
The Knox will immerse its guests in an era reminiscent of Miami Vice and Studio 54. Previously a nightclub, the space has been revamped into an intimate bar for the Chelsea crowd to enjoy.
What to expect at The Knox:
- Secret Entrances: With no obvious signage, visitors will have to be in the know to be able to find the speakeasy. Hotel guests can also enter through a hidden passage with a special access card.
- Full Retro Immersion: Designed by interior designer Jo Mulvihill, The Knox is full of small wonders, such as cocktail trains, a vintage phone exchange, and bartenders dressed in glittering jumpsuits.
- Throwback Tunes: With a rotating residency of vinyl DJs who will spin disco, funk and old-school beats, guests will enjoy a high-energy yet laid-back musical experience..
- Food and Beverage: The Knox will serve classic cocktails with a twist, and excellent bar food.
- Unique Entertainment: From Monday to Thursday, guests can enjoy a relaxed bar service, while Fridays and Saturdays bring live DJs and curated entertainment. There will also be upcoming cocktail workshops and private hire opportunities.
On the opening of the exciting bar, The Knox’s Managing Director Heather Hamilton says, “We are very excited to launch our new late-night bar, bringing another layer to our offering at Sloane Square Hotel and a cool new hotspot to Chelsea. Whether you’re sipping a perfectly mixed cocktail at the bar or soaking in the scene from a plush booth, this is where the night truly begins.”
The Knox will be having a media day on March 14th, offering a first taste of its signature cocktails and bar menu as well as performances and entertainment that suits the theme. Guests will also have the chance to meet interior designer Jo and experience some magical entertainment.
