Bruxless launches the first effective solution to combat bruxism based on functional proprioceptive stimulation (FPS) technology that has already proven successful in treating serious conditions
Bruxless, early-stage French start-up based in Manosque launches an innovative device to combat bruxism.
Bruxism is a parafunctional activity characterised by the involuntary clenching or grinding of teeth, often during sleep. Bruxism affects approximately 15% of the French population (10-15 million people) and nearly one billion people worldwide. The consequences can be severe: premature enamel wear, dental cracks, implant fractures, muscle pain, and sleep disorders.
Currently, there is no treatment for bruxism, only palliative care, some of which can present risks such as electrotherapy. Occlusal splints, which are generally expensive, often break regularly. Osteopathy may offer slight improvement but only for a short period, the same applies to Botox injections.
Functional Proprioceptive Stimulation Technology
The Bruxless device is equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, some of which are designed to detect contractions of the masseter muscles which are the jaw muscles that contract during episodes of teeth clenching or grinding. In response to these contractions, the device activates functional proprioceptive stimulations, calibrated according to the intensity of the bruxism episode. These mechanical stimulations directly target the tendon-muscle connection to send a signal to the brain and initiate the desired motor response: an unconscious relaxation of the jaw muscles.
The Bruxless technology is based on the idea of functional proprioceptive stimulation (FPS), already used by the pioneering company Techno Concept, which aims to initiate a motor response triggered by the brain. This technology relies on the application of mechanical vibrations to specific points. These vibrations create artificial sensations of movement that ‘trick’ the brain into achieving the desired muscle action. The result of more than thirty years of scientific research, this advanced technology is an integral part of the Bruxless solution.
Professor Damien Ricard, Chief Physician, Neurology Department, HIA Percy, France: “The technology developed by Techno Concept represents a major breakthrough in the treatment and support of stroke victims with tangible progress. It is inevitable and urgent that FPS be applied to other pathologies.”
Guillaume Collinot, President of Bruxless: “We decided to commercialise Bruxless as quickly as possible given the distress that millions of people suffer worldwide, why wait when we’re facing a condition with no treatment when the technology is available?”
Wearing it enhances overall wellbeing
In response to the growing demand from patients, the first production of the Bruxless device, in the form of a chinstrap, is available for pre-order across Europe and the UK with delivery starting June 2025 at a reduced retail price of €350 / £470 approx. (exclusive of VAT).
This device is initially marketed as a “well-being” product, with CE Medical and FDA certifications currently in progress.
The recommended use of the Bruxless device is as follows:
- Preventive: Wearing it in active mode for a few minutes before bed or during the day provides a relaxing massage for the masseter muscles.
- Reactive: Nighttime use allows for the detection of bruxism episodes, with immediate treatment leading to a reduction in the number of episodes and a decrease in their duration.
A companion mobile app on iOS and Android allows users to track the evolution of their bruxism and track improvements over time.
Pre-order Bruxless online at the reduced price of €350 / £470 approx. (exclusive of VAT). Delivery available across Europe and the UK starting June 2025.
The ‘FPS’ technology is a proprietary, patented, clinically validated technology deployed in hospital settings in France and internationally.
