Latest News and Happenings at the CCC
6/3/2008

The Coleman Country Club has been a busy place so far in 2008. Three tournaments have successfully been held, numerous individuals have joined as new members and one lucky member, SuJo McKee, hit her second hole in one this past weekend at the Country Club.

The Four-Person scramble was held on May 17th and 18th. With a full field of 24 teams, this tournament was by far the largest and most successful tournament of the year thus far. Numerous individuals and businesses throughout the County contributed donations as sponsorships to ensure an enticing payout for the lucky tournament winners.

The Championship Flight was an excellent display of talent as seven teams competed for first, second and third place honors. Taking home first place with scores of 53/54 for a two-day total of 107 was the team of Tate, Bowden, Doan and Doan. Finishing in a close second was the young team of Densman, Bolen, Martin and Martin with scores of 54/55 for a two-day total of 109. Improving two strokes on Sunday, the team of Nanny, Sawyer, Ross and Hood finished in third place with scores of 56/54 for a two-day total of 110.

The Presidents Flight was extremely competitive as two teams finished tied for first place out of a field of 10 teams. The teams of Rose, Rose, Jones and Allen and Gentry, Smith, Nunez and Brann shot identical scores of 60/59 for two-day totals of 119. Finishing in third place shooting scores of 59/61 for a two-day total of 120 was the local team of Tibbetts, Tibbetts, Baker and Bean.

The First Flight finished in a close race with the team of Barker, Barker, Grider and Raschke winning top honors with scores of 65/58 for a two-day total of 123. The team of Porter, Porter, Bouldin and Thweatt took second place honors with scores of 64/60 for a two-day total of 124. Coming in at third place was the team of Manley, Baxter, Armstrong and Dela Rosa with scores of 64/61 for a two-day finish of 125.

The Four-Person scramble would not have been as successful without the hard work by Jeff and Darla Tibbetts, Craig Duquette, Dwayne Saverance and several others as well as the generous donations by businesses and individuals in the community. Those individuals and businesses are recognized below.

On April 26th and 27th, the Country Club hosted the Couples Scramble. The results from that tournament were as follows. The Championship Flight was won by the team of Doan and Tate with impressive scores of 59/63 for a two-day total of 122. Finishing in second place was the team of Kite and Martin with scores of 61/67 for a two-day total of 128. Taking third place honors was the local team of Densman and McKee with scores of 64/66 for a two-day total of 130.

Two teams tied for first place honors in the Presidents Flight. Dodgen and Trammell shot scores of 75/69 for a two-day finish of 144 and the team of Graves and Graves shot scores of 72/72 for a two-day total of 144 as well. Finishing in third place was the team of Bush and Bush with scores of 72/73 for a two-day total of 145.

In the First Flight, the team of Jones and Jones took first place honors with scores of 76/76 for a two-day total of 152. The second place team was Duquette and Mann who shot 78/80 for a two-day total of 158. Rounding out third place was the team of Williams and Williams with scores of 82/80 for a two-day total of 162.

Congratulations to SuJo McKee for scoring a hole in one on Monday, May 26th. The exciting event occurred on Hole 8 at the Country Club with David Fritsch, Nicky Knox and Gerald Bean as witnesses. This is McKee’s second hole in one. Her first hole in one was in 1997 in a Labor Day scramble with her dad and granddad as team members.

The swimming pool is now open for members and out-of-town guests. The lifeguard for this year is Audrey Casselberry. She will be at the pool from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day except for Monday. All members are entitled to two free pool parties a year. For any member wishing to reserve the pool, please contact SuJo McKee at 432-413-4209 or by email at sujomckee@aol.com.

Many out of town golfers will join with local golfers to compete for top prize money. Don’t forget to come out and play in the 9-hole Thursday scrambles as well as the 18-hole monthly Sunday scrambles held the second Sunday of every month.
